Mr. Pres....
Word from Snap Snap.Com’s Prezz :
Assamualaikum and whats going down Snap Snap? My name is Mustaqim and I am the current owner, founder and president of the Snap Snap Community. It’s actually been 2 years since it was created by me and my friend. At that early stage I lead snap snap together with my partner in crime Azroy. He dropped out because of SPM that year. In that time I was also focusing on SPM but I couldn’t disband the community since I still received support from loyal fans and crews. So I put snap snap on hibernation for a while until I could find someone to help me out with the community. After SPM and I resumed my studies in UNITEN and found someone that is interested and wants to work together with me to improve this community, Akram aka Kapt Kram. He’s been active lately right? Hahahahha. I’m proud of that and I’ve started moving forward little by little because of him.
How’s the new Snap Snap.Com now? Snap Snap was different in the early days. It was supposed to be a photography based community where people can share photos and express themselves in this art form. We also set a policy to support all local like local music, brand, act and movement. From that we gain more fans and friends that help together to improve what they want. Now the policies are the same, what we want are the same, to bring people together express their interests, improve and get support for our local scene. What are different now is that we have made 3 new divisions to get people to really focus on their interest and help us organize better so that what you want to improve can be done efficiently.
So, in this community I am the president, akram is my vice and also the administrator for the Film & Photography division, while Imam is our administrator for the Music division. Hazick Imran is my advisor and since he has had more experience in coordinating and organizing events. What can you do? What we want now are people that need a stage to get their voices out and to express their interests. If you like music, why don’t you share your talent with us and the rest of the fans? Send us your videos, demo songs or event lyrics and beats to us so that we too can share that to others in the community. Maybe you can find your very own fans here. Who knows right? J For those who want to be in front or behind the camera film & photography division Kapt Kram can help you with that. Akram likes to do filming and maybe can get volunteer actors and crews if you want to join in. Maybe if you are like akram, then share your videos with us and get people to see your art work here.
As a whole, Snap Snap.Com is your stage to start, improve and achieve your dreams. Don’t be afraid of what interests you, just express in any way you want. Go all out and have fun because that is the most important thing.

The Road Not Taken
Hey Guys,
This July Actors Studio @ Lot 10 will be having a play in poetry called The Road Not Taken. Now, to me this play sounds really awesome, original and is worth going to but if you guys refuse to believe me just try reading the article below.... hehehe

Poetry Comes to Life!

The Road Not Taken
an original play in poetry

KUALA LUMPUR, 26th July 2010- The Actors Studio will be bringing poetry to life in a play form. Poetry will no longer be a still listening party as The Road Not Taken will be reinventing poetry using songs, dances and etc.

The Road Not Taken does not wish to preach, does not wish to shove, we just wish for you to listen and sit on a birch, and not fly away like a shy dove”. This original play in poetry bridges the gap between poetry and the new generation by turning poems into a story with contemporary settings and themes young adults can easily relate to.

It tells the story of a family of four…..A husband that travels all over the world, a wife that loves him a lot, a daughter that's passionate & independent and a boyfriend who captures her heart.

The Road Not Taken is written, devised and performed by Ayunni Ayub, Sally Ann, Bill Curtis, Adlan Ramly and Syafiq using well known and original poems.

Bill Curtis

Bill has been a poet it seems most of his life.
Always on the lookout for word play,
he annoyed his sister and most of his peers.
He then set out on the solo road
to weave his words.

He now co-directs alt.

Adlan Ramly

A playwright, songwriter, director, singer and actor. Currently pursuing his Master on Arts in English Literature specializing in Epic Theatre in Universiti Malaya (UM), Mohd Adlan Ramly is an avid dramatist and theater lover for almost 10 years. He has written a number of plays which includes "Dielle: The Musical" that was staged in MTC (Malaysian Tourism Centre) in 2007 and "Whoa! Willow!!", also a musical, that was staged twice, in 2008 at Panggung Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur and in 2010 at the Kuala Lumpur City Hall Auditorium. In all these projects he has directed, acted, and wrote the music. Now Adlan is taking poetry into his platter with The Road Not Taken and is eager to debut his poetic skills both in writing and performing. He has quite a number of projects up his sleeve that will hit the theater scene soon!

Sally Ann

Sally is very passionate about the arts and loves acting, writing, singing, dancing and
reading. At the age of 17, she joined Joe Hasham's Acting for Beginners' 2008 Class. In
the following year, she made an appearance in HAMLET, ROSENCRANTZ AND
GUILDENSTERN ARE DEAD as a member of the 2009 T4YP Ensemble. This year, she is in her final year pursuing a Diploma in Performing Arts at Sunway University College. She recently
finished her internship at The Instant Cafe Theatre Company (ICT) and is now
undertaking her college’s Graduation Play and Film projects as Director and Production
Designer respectively.

Ayunni Ayub

Ayunni is a theatre coordinator at The Actors Studio @ Lot 10 whose first foray into theatre acting was for 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' at university. 24 hours theatre by Masakini Theatre then jump started her love of acting while she was in the corporate world. Jumping headlong into T4YP 2009 she embarked on a delightful journey with her fellow ensemble, performing for 100 Words Project, What Does It Means To Be Free, Hamlet & Brand Spanking New. The Road Not Taken is her first poetic debut & she's nervous & excited at the same time!

Kick Ass !!

“Who am I…. I’m kick-ass”
Kick-ass is most definitely not your average superhero movie, there is no mutant spider to lend u it’s powers, no alien from a distant planet that gains strength from our sun and no gamma-high green steroid filled monster. But what it does have is goodies in tights and baddies that kills. Where do I start? A friend of mine used the term “wanabe superheroes” and its right coz it actually kind of explains the movie. The movie centers on your average everyday comic book geek, Dave Lizewski. But Dave did what all of us could only dream of doing (don’t lie, we know u dream of it too), be a superhero, Kick-Ass. However, Dave is not the only masked crime fighter in town. We are later introduced to a pair of experience superheroes in the father daughter pair of Damon and Mindy Macready or better known as Big Daddy and Hit Girl. Another is Red Mist or Christopher D’Amico who has his own agenda and it is most definitely not parallel with that of Kick-Ass, Big Daddy and Hit Girl. The main bad guy is Frank D’Amico, a ruthless gangster with a finger in every bad deed in town.
Two big thumb ups for Matthew Vaughn for going through with this movie. Seeing as how initial no big production wants to buy the script and produce it, Vaughn went ahead on making this movie. I read in an article that what got Vaughn to do this movie was when Hit Girl said the “C” word in the 3rd issue, and the same reason was why no big wig company wants to produce it. As we all know, it is an adaptation of a comic book of the same title. Vaughn did a great job bringing life to the already lively ink character. The cast was great as well. They all belong in there element. Aaron Johnson as the geeky Dave was perfect, considering that Aaron looks kind of cool in real life, a total opposite of his character. Christopher Mintz-Plasse played the role of Chris D’Amico really well, being the spoiled rich kid and later as the undercover superhero Red Mist. Now, Nick Cage, I love this guy. He can pretty much act as anything he wants. Truly a great actor and same are said for his role as Big Daddy. His adopted speech mannerism for Big Daddy was homage to the original Batman played by Adam West, this shows how dedicated he was. I know this is farfetched, but what if we have him play as Joker replacing the late Heath Ledger. Next is the rising talent, Mark Strong. I have seen him in Rock’N’Rolla and Sherlock Holmes and now in Kick-Ass as the main antagonist, Frank D’Amico. This Brit can play Frank like he was born right in the U.S of A. I saved the best for last, Chloe Moretz as Mindy Macready and Hit Girl. She instantly caught my attention the minute she uttered her first “F” word in the movie and it was to her own dad no less. Chloe really brought the role really well. Now imagine an 11 year old girl with the mouth of a drunken construction worker, I mean she swears if not more, the same amount as any big boy in this movie. Not any young actress could pulls this off and she did it perfectly. It’ll be hell for her parents if she brought her role home.
In a nut-shell, Kick-Ass, colorful cast, vivid characters, great director, and a great story is the perfect blend for an awesome movie. If u haven’t seen it, go watch it. If you have seen it, then watch it again. I have seen it 3 times and will continue watching it until a sequel comes out. One that I am expecting to be more spectacular than the first.

Eagerly waiting for Kick-Ass 2,
A.D

TaleNTime

Hey folks,
This week we’re going to take a look at a local production called “TaleNTime” . This movie was made by the late Yasmin Ahmad who through her movies has managed to change our film industry drastically through racial controversy. This movie tells the story about a few students and how an event that was organized by the school has managed to bring all of them together. A lot of different conflicts were put into this movie, namely Death, Poverty, Handicap and Love. The signature style that you can probably see in this movie is probably from the usual interracial love that occurs between a rich Malay girl and a poor, handicapped Indian boy that is portrayed in most of Yasmin Ahmad’s movies. This is a serious movie that sort of makes us look back and understand that not all people are born the same and due to certain situations and conditions that occur in this country, there is always a racial boundary that stops us from being united as one. The cinematography in this movie is quite normal as it doesn’t really have a specific style to stay true to. The soundtrack for this movie however is truly something that should be credited for, as one of the songs "Pergi” was nominated at most of our local music award shows. Overall, this movie is great to be watched with your family and friends and is certainly good for the soul. I give it an 8 out of 10.

The Losers

Hey folks it’s me again,

Alright this time, let’s take a look at a movie that just recently came out a few weeks ago, “The Losers”. This movie is about a group of US soldiers that was betrayed by one of their own government agency the CIA. So basically it’s about getting revenge back to those that set them up but what really made this movie good was the style used to portray it. You see the movie was based on a comic book and thus the style was obviously comic like. However, the ability for the director to manage to show it that way successfully is surely something worth credited for. In my opinion, the style sort of looked Quentin Tarantino-ish but of course with a lot of added factors. You see, Quentin Tarantino usually puts in a lot of comic like graphics in his movie. However, sometimes to me they just don’t seem to satisfy me so much as what was done in this movie. The special effects and cinematography was good and strictly followed the comic style as their guideline. Overall, personally I think that this movie is simply fun and awesome and should most definitely be seen with your friends. I rate it an 8 out of 10.

Yours truly,

Kapt Kram

The Time Traveler's Wife

Dear Readers,

Every now and then, we here at Snap Snap will give reviews on the movies that we have seen, be it international or local. Now for the first review we will be talking about a movie that was released last year. This movie has managed to capture my heart and believe it or not I actually cried watching it. The title of this movie is known as “The Time Travellers’ Wife”, directed by Robert Scwentke. This movie tells the story of a man who has the ability to travel through time. As much as he had tried going for treatments and all, he just never seems to be able to control this ability. There is also love seen here between an average American girl and a man with powers, and since he isn’t able to control his powers, his wife is often left alone to care for her own self. However, in the end they managed to overcome these obstacles and conceive a child who possesses the same genetic trait as her father and this time with an extra bonus, the girl can control where she is going to travel. When the girl meets her father in the future, she tells him that he is going to die. Tough luck eh, so anyways when this happens the man unbelievably remains calm and goes on with his life and dies as foretold. I won’t tell you the ending because it is sort of a huge spoiler. So that’s it for the synopsis and now for the review. This movie is pretty complicated because it plays with different time plots all the time, but despite all that the director still manages to perform beautifully. The settings in this movie are quite limited but enough to provide a nice and easy going flow. It doesn’t have too much drama or humour but just enough to keep us glued to our seats. Overall, I would just have to say that this movie is just nice and good to watch with your loved ones and if I would have to rate it from 1 to 10; I would most definitely give it an 8 out of 10.

Yours Truly,

Kapt Kram.
